Description
In this pilot film for the Batman Beyond television series (which aired as a two-part episode), Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy) has become too old for super heroics and has hung up his bat suit for good. However, a young man named Terry McGinnis (Will Friedle) wants to avenge the death of his father, which he believes was caused by the new head of Wayne Industries. After he does a bit of digging, McGinnis discovers Bruce Wayne's long-held secret and takes Bruce's suit out of mothballs to become the new Batman, with a new complement of high-tech gadgets at his disposal. Boasting a futuristic look inspired by Japanese anime, Batman Beyond also features appearances from Stockard Channing as the new Commissioner Gordon and Teri Garr as Mary McGinnis, Terry's mom. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

display_descriptionBatman beyond, the movie: The aging Bruce Wayne hangs up his cape as the once invincible Batman. But when troubled teen Terry McGinnis stumbles upon the Dark Knight's secret, a new alliance is forged. And a triumphant new Batman is born. Golem: Willie Watt is an easy target for bullies like Nelson Nash and the rest of the jock crown of Hamilton High. But Willie has found a new friend: a two-story tall machine used for the construction of buildings. Once Willy is able to control the robot with his mind, his enemies must pay the price. The winning edge: Mason and his teammates have become addicted to a horrible steroid drug administered through a patch called a slapper. As coach looks the other way, the team is winning. But the jocks have resorted to stealing to feed their habit, and Batman is resolved to stop them by finding the source of their drugs. Dead man's hand: The Royal Flush Gang is back in Gotham City to wreak havoc, and King is determined to avenge a previous encounter with Batman. McGinnis falls for a new girl around town, unaware that her shadowy background is linked with the re-appearance of the criminals. Meltdown: Derek Powers is desperate for a new body to repair his radiation-damaged DNA. A young doctor offers him hope and asks that he help her experiment on another human with a similar affliction: old Batman nemesis Victor Fries.
